Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay based on the picture below. You should start your essay with a brief description of the picture and then discuss what qualities an employer should look for in job applicant. You should give sound arguments to support your views and write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

Essay 1

In the modern society, with competition becomes increasingly fierce, to find a job is too difficult for the young generation. Academic qualification, as a job a stepping-stone, is an essential factor during the job hunting.

Some people think that the highly educated must be able to find a good job, because education can prove that a person has a good capacity. Therefore, it is commonly believe that a job seeker with a master degree must be easier to find a promising job than a undergraduate. However, now the company interviewers generally prefer to required a even higher academic qualification, like a doctor degree. Otherwise, the applicants, even though he or she has tremendous potential, will be refused relentlessly.

As far as I am concerned, education should not be the single standard in an interview. As for the companies, it is not necessarily a good principle as well. Now the whole community often talk about working ability and efficiency. For example, some people may have high academic qualification, but actually his ability is very limited. So both the individual and the community ought to change their attitude on academic qualification. We should realize that it is the operational capability and service ability which can help you to find a good job.

Essay 2

According to the picture, an employer turns down a job applicant, for his degree is less advanced than the other applicants, even though he has a good resume. Actually, what’s behind the cartoon is the tendency that employers focus on academic performance when hiring.

No one disputes that a college or higher degree opens doors. Despite that, as far as I’m concerned, ac ademic degree should not be the primary criteria in selecting talents. First of all, academic degrees only represent the applicants’ proficiency in their school work, and cannot demonstrate their personality or other abilities. For instance, the responsibility of a human resources manager is to deal with people, and thus it requires advanced people skill which is by no means shown in the diploma. Second, emphasis on degrees may stall the development of the company. They will lose real talents if they judge people only by their educational background, while it is often the case that college drop-outs like Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Steve Jobs, etc., run wildly successful enterprises.

Therefore, instead of running after applicants with higher degrees, companies should become more concerned about what it takes to do the job and what a college education actually provides.

Essay 3

As is shown in the picture, a master student is applying for a job, but he is rejected. The interviewer just tells him the reason why he cannot get the job because he doesn’t have a Ph.D simple as picture is , what it conveys to us that the requirements from the company is high and strict.

It is of great necessity to figure out the negative influence behind it. On the one hand, from the perspective of the company, they will lose the talents who are qualified for the job, because the certificates cannot prove the applicants’ capability, as we all know, some certificates are fake. On the other hand, from the employees, they believe they have a high degree, but they still can’t meet the needs of the companies, which exerts an undesirable influence on their career plans or their mental health.

To sum up, there are some suggestions responsible for the above-mentioned impact. F irstly, the company cannot only judge a person’s ability from the certificate, but most importantly, give them a chance and let them show their real capability. Second, the applicants should improve their own practical ability in order to get their favorite job successfully.

Essay 4

From the cartoon given above, we can observe that there is a recruiter talking with an interviewee. When looking at the resume submitted by the candidate, the interviewer says,“Sorry, kid… Your resume looks good, but you only have a Master’s degree…All the other applicants are Ph.D. ! ” Having heard these words, the applicant seems to be quite helpless and embarrassed.

The cartoon reveals that the society has been placing a higher value on educational degree. What factors might contribute to this phenomenon? Answers to this question may involve many aspects, and here are a few guesses: for one thing, from the subjective aspect, quite a few employers hold that the higher educational degree people have, the more competent they will be. For another, from the objective aspect, with the professions in modern society becoming increasingly segmented, employees are required to acquire higher degree to fulfill their tasks efficiently.

Definitely, higher degrees enjoy obvious advantages. However, it is not advisable that employers judge a person only by his/ her educational backgrounds. Let alone “Degree Discrimination”. As for ourselves, we should not only attach a great importance to educational degree, but also spare no efforts to enhance our comprehensive abilities.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay based on the picture below. You should start your essay with a brief description of the picture and then discuss whether there is a shortcut to learning. You should give sound arguments to support your views and write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

Essay 1

As is vividly depicted in the picture, before the circulation desk stands a student, who wants to find a shortcut to learning, with the librarian pointing it to him.On the lower part of the picture,we can see some English characters which read “' How To Do Well In School Without Studying' is over there in the fiction section”.

As to me, I think there is no shortcut to success, and the English characters under the picture also mean that the shortcut to success only exist in the virtual world.Whether you can do well in school is based on the effort that you spend on study. That is to say,the more diligent you are,the better your study is.Diligent is momentous and fundamental to people what the soul is vital and significant to us.Had it not been for it,we could not have been success. The story of Ma Yun,founder of China’s online trading empire, best prove the significance of diligent in realizing personal ambition and creating value to the world.

“The most crucial part of your life,”once wrote a distinguished professor, “is to cultivate the quality of diligent.”I was,and remains, the supporter of the idea that “There is no shortcut to learning.”

Essay 2

The comic is an ironical illustration that it is unadvisable to search for a shortcut to learning. The student tries to find a book about how to do well in school without studying in the library, only to be told that it is unrealistic and impractical.

The discussion of whether there is a shortcut to learning is essentially the requesting for a supreme learning method –a panacea every learner wishes for. In my opinion, the shortcut to learning does exist. It is the combination of diligence and intelligence. As Thomas Edison says, “Genius is one per cent inspiration, ninety-nine per cent perspiration.”

On one hand, hard work is the premise and prerequisite for achieving academic success. Even the most resourceful ones have to devote their time studying and reading, because knowledge does not go automatically into the brain. All efforts will be futile if we idle away our time.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that there are ways to improve learning efficiency, especially with the support of technology like the Internet. Better learners are always the ones with cleverer learning skills.

To sum up, only when we diligently and skillfully can we achieve academic success.

Essay 3

It is a common phenomenon that a large number of students are pursuing success with a wrong belief that there exists a shortcut to learning. The picture given reveals this fact in an ironic way. We can easily notice from the cartoon that a student is asking the teacher in the library how to achieve accomplishment in school without studying, while the teacher is pointing to the fiction section to tell him to work hard.

Learning is actually a painstaking process in which both students on campuses and employees of working agencies are struggling to acquire knowledge by sparing great efforts. On the contrary, some people in today’s society aim at studying without hard work, following the so-called “shortcut”ways.

From my own perspective, there is no shortcut in the way to learn. First and foremost, learning or obtaining knowledge is based on the accumulation step by step. The famous saying that Rome is not built in one day teaches us that no goal is achieved without persistence and accumulation. In addition, the shortcut to learning is extremely appealing to those who are unwilling to spend time and energy studying because they might win by a fluke. However, students advocating the shortcut is unlikely to win every time. Last but not least, the fickleness and negative attitudes towards exams are responsible for the widespread trend of the shortcut belief, and it surely lead to the failure of study to some students. Taking a look around us, we can find that many agencies and people believe in the prediction of the exams, and students may be indulged in the so-called perditions and pay no attention to studying hard.

As has been mentioned, learning without hard work tends to be useless and meaningless, for students cannot have a great chance to grow into all-round intellectuals. The picture makes us college students aware of the great significance of true skill and genuine knowledge. Only by making efforts to learn in and after class can we gain solid and real ability and competence.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay based on the picture below. You should start your essay with a brief description of the picture and then discuss whether technology is indispensable in education. You should give sound arguments to support your views and write at least 150 words ……

Essay 1

From this cartoon, we clearly see that the student is asking his teacher about whether or not he can use some tech support to figure out the problem in his math class. What’s behind the cartoon is the fact that nowadays students become increasingly dependent on technological devices to help them with their school work.

In my opinion, with the advances in technology, students can learn more efficiently. First of all, technology provides infinite resources for learning. When our parents were students, they could only learn from their teachers, while nowadays, we can learn much more from the Internet. Second, it’s more convenient to learn with tech support. For example, I got enrolled in a Spanish class in an online school called Hujiang Online Class. All it requires is a PC or a smartphone, and I can learn the lectures anytime and anywhere. Lastly, it’s more economical to learn online. Besides the courses, free Apps are also easily accessible.

As for me, tech support has become an important part in my daily study. I will continue to learn in this way, and I believe that we can learn more efficiently if we are able to utilize the technologies around us.

Essay 2

The picture vividly depicts that a teaching is asking a pupil to answer a simple math-related question——what’s two plus two? Unfortunately, the child cannot answer such an easy question without tech help. In fact, the phenomenon conveyed in the picture does not surprise us, because as the science and technology develops, the topic concerning the side effects of technological advancement increasingly arouses people’s attention.

Undoubtedly, the drawer of the picture aims at reminding us that we should use

technology in a proper way and not be too tech-dependent to solve the simple problem independently. It is well known that thanks to the development of human civilization, many formerly unimaginable things come into reality. But, while enjoying the convenience produced by tech, we must alert its harm. Being over-addicted to technology will cost our health, independence, wisdom, creativity and even our ability to live.

Weighing the pros and cons of the technology, perhaps the best policy is to apply it properly. At the same time, we must avoid its harmful part. Furthermore, young people should be advised that depending too much on technology is hardly beneficial for them at all and more importantly they are expected to acquire the capacity to think independently.

Essay 3

We can see a teacher and a student in the cartoon above. When the teacher asks the student to answer a question written on the blackboard, the student wants to seek tech support rather than work it out by himself. The picture aims to tell us the problem that young students are highly dependent on high technology, overlooking the importance of independent thinking.

A large number of people point out that technology has played an irreplaceable part in learning process, while many others are against it. Those in favor of high technology believe we have benefited a lot from the convenience brought by Information Technology. For instance, our work efficiency has improved because computers can do complex calculations faster and more accurately than men. Also, the Internet has made it much easier to get access to information than before. However, many people claim that over-dependence on technology has done more harm than good.

As one of youngsters, I think as long as we can take advantages of hi-tech reasonably, our learning process will be highly beneficial. At the same time, keep it in mind that independent thinking comes first, while tech support just offers assistance. Only in this way, can we benefit most from our learning process.

Rural life ideals reflected in Chinese arts and literature is an important feature of Chinese civilization. This is largely attributed to feelings of Taoism to the nature. There are two most popular themes in traditional Chinese paintings. One is various scenes of happy family life with the elderly drinking teas and playing chess, men plowing and harvesting, women sewing and weaving, or children playing outdoors. The other is a variety of fun in rural life with a fisherman fishing on the lake, farmers cutting firewood or collecting medicinal herbs, scholars reciting poems or painting pictures under a pine tree. These two themes represent separately Confucian and Taoist ideal life.

例1 ____________(将领你们去参观我们的新车间)by the secretary. 译文:Y ou will be shown our new workshop. The secretary will show you our new workshop。 例2 Y ou __________(我们期待你能组织贸易推广活动)this time. 译文:are expected to organize the trade publicity campaigns. Y ou are expected to organize the trade publicity campaigns this time. 处理后的英文译句往往带有know,see,find,say,suppose,estimate,report,suggest,stress,consider,expect,admit,point,understand 等动词。 If one or more electrons are removed, the atom is said/believed/thought to be positively charged. All kinds of measures are taken to prevent corrosion. People have taken all kinds of measures to prevent corrosion。也可以用被动语态来翻译--All kinds of measures are taken to prevent corrosion。

This is yet _________________ (两国人民的又一个共同点). 2. His scientific works _______________(在英语国家得到广泛阅读). 3. Revolution means the emancipation of the productive forces,_____________(改革也是解放生产力). is optimistic ________________(对现时信息产业的发展状况). in all fields should be subordinated to and ________________(服务于经济发展的进程). 1. another common point between the people of our two countries 解析:本题考查通过增补介词使译文的意思更完整。 (She is a teacher by occupation.) (I've had second thought on that matter.) 2. were widely read in English-speaking countries 解析:若是按照字面翻译,这句话很可能被译为were widely read in English countries。 /I sold out my color TV. 3. and so does reform 我们不能把原文译成and reform also means the emancipation of the productive forces,这种结构显得臃肿累赘。为避免重复,可以选用and so does... 4. about the present development of information industry 解析:"对......表示乐观"可以用句型be optimistic about sth.。这句话不能译成about the status of the present development of information industry。" 5. serve the economic development 的结构,不能译成be served to。"

?Peking Opera is the national opera of China. ) ?I bought a pair of trousers at the cost of 50 yuan in Kunming Department Store near Dongfeng Square at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon.
