Week 3 – The print revolution

The print revolution began in the middle of the 15th century (Crowley & Heyer 2011), as it can be considered an important innovation its influence on the development technology in other forms with mass production. At that time, the method of book production transforms from a hand-written to print.

Print can making the knowledge widely to the public (Crowley & Heyer 2011). Through the print era came, formed a new type of structure of manufacturing industry.

A large number of books appeared in a quick, efficient, inexpensive way. Printing technology led to book production industrialization, mainly thanks to the development of steam power and machine layout (Crowley & Heyer 2011).

Behind technological change is the change of society. The printing revolution brought the increasing of book production and reading habits change of people, such as the transmission range becomes wider and books becomes variety, this is the incomparable hand-written books times. Printing technology with a strong force of copy and save power, which extend the regeneration process of the literature. Printing technology has both the nature of the social activities and thoughtful quality activities, it will change the relationship between scholars and ideas; readers' thinking tend to be content and expression of guidance and traction.

Print resolution changes peopl e’s life not only in a good way. People increasingly rely on the books, rather than by experience and studying. It has stopped fresh ideas to a large extent. More and more of the printed words gradually influence the use of spoken words, and people might prefer visual than listening. Print culture also inevitably bring cultural anxiety and the sense of crisis, like in today’s world, people are surrounded by electronic and network. It seems to be convenient to contact more frequently, but the relationship between people are more and more far.

Print is part of the human civilization (Crowley & Heyer 2011), and it profound influence on the communication revolution. The interference effect of the new media

has increasing. The technology in bring people the advanced and convenient at the same time, more far-reaching influence on the spiritual world, sooner or later all areas of human life is likely to influence by technology.
