书面表达

At present, it is well known that text messages are widely involved in various TV programs in our country. But concerning this hot topic, different people take different attitudes.

Supporters hold the view that text messages offer the audience more chances to participated in the live programs. In this way, the mass media benefit a lot from them. In addition, they are popular with young people because it is quite fashionable.

Those who are against the idea argue that text messages are likely to get out of control, in which case the taste of the programs cannot be guaranteed. What’s more, the expenses may make the audience feel bad. To make matters worse, some adolescents are so addicted to them that too much time and energy is wasted on them.

As far as I’m concerned, the text message is typical of the information age, but as we know, it is a powerful tool that needs to be used with great care.

W: Good evening. Today is Mother’s Day, and Sam will give us a speech about Mother’s Day. Now, Sam.

M: Hello, everyone. Mother’s Day is not a new celebration. Historians say it started as a spring festival in ancient Greece. The modern festival of Mother’s Day probably comes from England in the 1600s, when people had a day off from their jobs to visit their mothers on a day they called “Mothering Sunday”. They took small gifts and a special cake. In the United States, Mother’s Day became an official holiday in 1914. People in different countries celebrate Mother’s Day on different days. In China, Australia, Brazil, Italy and the United States, it’s on the second Sunday in May, whereas in France and Sweden, it’s on the last Sunday in May. In Argentina, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in October, whereas in Portugal, it’s on December 8th. Although many countries celebrate Moth er’s Day at different times of the year, the holidays have the same purpose—to show love for mothers. For example, on Mother’s Day morning, children bring their mothers breakfast in bed. And adults buy their mothers flowers or send them cards. May our mothers have a happy day!
