Scene I

WILLIAM: Of course, I've seen her films and always thought she was, well, fabulous-- but, you know, a million million miles from the world I live in. Which is here -- Notting Hill, my favourite bit of London.

WILLIAM: There's the market on weekdays, selling every fruit and vegetable known to man...

比如也许你会称赞一个女孩You have fabulous eyes. Ilike this fabulous dictionary.

Bit:

I'm always busy on weekday. 许你常常会spend a weekend with your friends.

WILLIAM: The tattoo parlour -- with a guy outside who

got drunk and now can't remember why he chose 'I Love Ken'...

WILLIAM: The radical hair-dressers where everyone comes out looking like the Cookie Monster, whether they want to or not...

The sailor has a ship tatooed on his arm.

Get drunk:喝醉酒。

WILLIAM: And then suddenly it's the weekend, and from break of day, hundreds of stalls appear out of nowhere, filling Portobello Road right up to Notting Hill Gate...

WILLIAM: ... and wherever you look thousands of people are buying millions of antiques, some genuine... and some not quite so genuine. And what's great is that lots of friends have ended up in this part of London -- that's Tony, for example architect turned chef, who recently invested all the money he ever earned in a new restaurant...

Do you often spend weekends with your friends?

Break of day:天亮。From break of day:意思是从天亮的时候开始。

Appear out of nowhere:意思就是appear suddenly. Many people appear out of nowhere.

Right up to:一直到……

What's great is that we are going to a big party this evening.

Finally they live in Nottinghill.

WILLIAM:And so this is where I spend my days and years - in this small village in the middle of the city - in a house with a blue door that my wife and I bought together… before she left me for a man who looked exactly like Harrison Ford,

WILLIAM:and where I now lead a strange half-life with a lodger called...

WILLIAM:Spike!

And so this is where I spend my days and years

small village in the middle of the city:

Harrison Ford:

lead a strange half-life:lead a life意思是过着某种生活。 例如lead a happy life.

Person paying for rooms.

Scene II

WIllAM:Uhmmm… Can I help you too?

ANNA:No, thanks. I'll just look around.

WIllAM: Fine.

好的。

WIllAM: Uhh, that book's really not great -- just in case, you know, browsing turned to buying. You'd be wasting your money. But if it's Turkey you are interested in, umm, this one on the other hand is very good, umm,

I'll just look around.

just in case:如果,万一。

You'd be wasting your money. You'd be wasting your time (money…).

If it's… you are interested in…:如果你是对……

On the other hand:

WIllAM:I think the man who wrote it has actually been to Turkey, which helps. umm... There's also a very amusing incident with a kebab. Umm… which is one of many amusing incidents.

ANNA: Thanks. I'll think about it.

WIllAM: Or the bigger hardback variety, this is… sorry can you just give me a second?

Which helps:

l Can you just give me a second?:这句话意思基本上相当于wait a moment,所以在日常生活中也相当常用。 Can you just give me a second?

WIllAM: Excuse me.

THIEF: Yes.

WIllAM: Bad news.

THIEF:What?.

什么?

WIllAM: We've got a security camera in this bit of the shop

THIEF: So?

WIllAM: So, I saw you put that book down your trousers.

THIEF: What book?

WIllAM:The one down your trousers.

THIEF:No, I don't have a book down my trousers.

WIllAM: Right I tell you what --umm I'll call the police -- and, umm what can I say? -- If

I'm wrong about the whole book-down-the-trousers scenario, I really apologize.

I'll call the police:

What can I say?:

If I'm wrong about I really apologize.

THIEF: Okay -- what if I did have a book down my trousers?

WIllAM: Well, ideally, when I went back to the desk, you'd remove the Cadogan guide to Bali from your trousers, and either wipe it and put it back, or buy it. I'll see you in a sec.

What if…:如果(万一)…… What if it rains while we are a long way from shelter?

Ideally:

Desk:

The Cadogan guide to Bali

WIllAM: Sorry about that...

ANNA: No, It's fine. I was gonna steal one myself but now I've changed my mind. Oh, Signed by the author, I see.

WIllAM: Umm, yeah, couldn't stop him. If you can find an unsigned one, it's worth an absolute fortune.

Change my mind:

It's worth an absolute fortune:

THIEF: Excuse me.

ANNA:Yes.

THIEF:Can I have your autograph?

ANNA:Surely, What's your name?

THIEF: Rufus

Scene III

WIllAM:Oh Shit, Fuck I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry, Here, let me help.

ANNA: Get your hands off.

WIllAM: I' m really sorry. Look, I live just over the street I have some water and soap -- you could get cleaned up.

ANNA: No thank you. I just need to get my car back.

WIllAM: I also have a phone. I'm confident that in five minutes we can have you spick and span and back on the street again... in the non-prostitute sense obviously.

ANNA: Okay. So what do you mean just over the street' -- give it to me in yards.

Shit, fuck:

I live just over the street.:

Get cleaned up.:get

Spick and span:

give it to me in yards:yard是英国人常用的长度单位,"码" 码(1码= 3英尺= 36英寸≈ 0.914米)

WIllAM:Eighteen yards. That's my house there with the blue front door.

WIllAM:Come on in. I'll just…

WIllAM: Umm, right, right, come in It's not quite as tidy as it normally is... I fear. but, umm

WIllAM: The bathroom is on the top floor and the telephone just, ahh...

WIllAM: Round the corner... straight on up.

WIllAM: Would you like a cup of tea before you go?

ANNA:No.

不。

WIllAM:Coffee?

ANNA: No.

不。

WIllAM: Orange juice -- probably not.

WIllAM: Something else cold -- coke, water, some disgusting sugary drink pretending to have something to do with fruits of the forest?

ANNA: No.

不。

WIllAM: Would you like something eat, something to nibble -- apricots, soaked in honey -- quite why, no one knows -- because it stops them tasting of apricots, and makes them taste like honey, and if you wanted honey, you'd just buy honey, instead of apricots, but nevertheless -- there we go -- yours if you want them.

ANNA: No.

不。

WIllAM: Do you always say 'no' to everything?

ANNA: No.

不。

ANNA: I'd better be going. Thanks for your help.

Eighteen yards:

Come on in.

Would you like a cup of tea before you go?

Pretend to do sth.

Have something to do with:和……

Something to nibble:

I'd better be going.

Thanks for your help.

WIllAM: You're welcome and, may I also say... I'm heavenly.

WIllAM:Take my one chance to say it. After you've read that terrible book, you're certainly not going to be coming back to the shop.

ANNA: Thank you.

WIllAM: Yes. Well. My pleasure.

WIllAM: So, it was Nice to meet you. Surreal but nice.

You're welcome

Heavenly:adj. You have got two heavenly dimples.

Take my one chance to say it:找个机会告诉你。

Thank you. -- My pleasure.

It was Nice to meet you:见到你真是高兴,如果和不太相熟的人见面时,说这句话一定不会错。

Surreal adj.

Scene IV

ANNA: Well, Wait, what about me?

Max: I'm sorry. Do you think you deserve the brownie?

ANNA:Well, a shot at it at least, huh?

WIllAM:You'll have to prove it. This is a very very good brownie. Something to fight for.

ANNA:I've been on a diet every day since I've been 19 basically means I've been hungry for a decade. I've had a series of not-nice boyfriends one of whom hit me.And every time I get my heart broken. The newspapers splash it about as entertainment. It's taken two rather painful operations to get me looking like this.

Have a shot at sth:意思是try to do sth. I have a shot at solving the problem.

No potatoes for me -- I'm on a diet.

for a decade.

I get my heart broken:

Honey:(William's zany sister): Really.

ANNA:And one day not long from now my look s will go they will discover I can't act and I will become some sad middle-aged woman who Looks a bit like a some who was famous for awhile.

Max: No, nice try. Gorgeous but you don't fool anyone.

WIllAM:A pathetic effort to hold the brownie.

Not long from now:意思是不久以后。

My looks will go.

Nice try:意思是good try. successful try.

Gorgeous:

Pathetic:able to be considered.

ANNA:Thank you for such a terrific time.

Max:I'm delighted.

ANNA: That's a great tie.

Max: Now you are lying.

ANNA: Ok, it's true.

ANNA: I told you I was bad at acting. Lovely to meet you.

Bella:(William's best friend): And you. I will wait until you're gone before I tell them you've a vegetarian.

Honey:Good night I'm sorry about the leaving thing. I mean't to leave, but just… ring me if you want someone to go shopping with, I know lots of nice cheap places. I mean, not that money is necessary.

ANNA:It's been nice to meet you. Happy birthday.

Honey:Thank you.

ANNA:You're my style guru. Good night everyone.

I'm delighted.

Lovely to meet you. 和nice to meet you 一个意思。

Scene V

WIllAM:It's crazy behavior. Can't we just laugh about all this? Seriously, in the huge sweep of things this stuff doesn't matter...

Spike: What he's gonna say next is there are people starving in the Sudan. What he's gonna say next is there are people starving in the Sudan.

It's crazy behavior.

the huge sweep of things:许多的大事。

Can't we just laugh about all this?

Seriously, in the huge sweep of things this stuff doesn't matter...

Spike

WIllAM: Well there are and we don't have to go anywhere near that far. My best friend slipped, She slipped downstairs, cracked her back and she's in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. All I'm asking for is a normal amount of perspective.

ANNA:You are right. Of course you are right. It's just that I've dealt with this garbage for 10 years you've had it for 10 minutes. Our perspectives are very different.

WIllAM:Today's newspapers will be lining tomorrow's waste paper bin s.

We don't have to go anywhere near that far:

Ask for it:invite trouble,在口语里的意思是自找麻烦。All I'm asking for is a normal amount of perspective.

It's just that I've dealt with this garbage for 10 years you've had it for 10 minutes.

Our perspectives are very different.

Waste paper bins.

WIllAM: Excuse me!

WIllAM:Well, You know it's just one day. Tomorrow today's papers will have been thrown out.

ANNA: You really don't get it. The story will be filed. Every time any one writes anything about me they'll look up the files. Newspapers last for ever. I'll regret this forever.

WIllAM:Right I will feel the opposite. And will always be glad you came to stay.

You're probably right you'd better go.

F ile:v.

I'll regret this forever:

I will feel the opposite.

Scene VI

ANNA: Hi!

WIllAM:Hello…

你好。

ANNA: You diappeared.

WIllAM: Yeah. yeah.I had to leave. I didn't want to disturb.

ANNA: How have you been?

WIllAM: Fine fine. Everything much the same. When they change the law Spike and I will marry immediately. Where with you I've watched in wonder. Awards, glory.

-Hi!

-Hello…

-How have you been?

-Fine. Fine. Everything much the same.

Where with you. You still enjoy your study life."“而你呢,还在享受你的学习生活。”

In wonder:

ANNA:Oh, no. It's all nonsense. Believe me. I'd no idea how much nonsense it was, but nonsense it all is. Yesterday was our last day of filming. So I'm leaving… But… I brought this for you from the home. So I thought I'd give it to you.

WIllAM:Thank you.

WIllAM:Shall I….

我能

ANNA: Oh, no. Don't open it now. I'm embarrassed.

WIllAM: Thank you, I don't know what it is for. But thanks anyway.

ANNA: Actually I had it in my apartment, and I'd like… But when it came to it, I didn't know how to call, I'd behaved so badly, twice, so it's been sitting in the hotel. Then you came and I figured… the thing is… the thing is…

WIllAM: What is the thing.

But when it came to it:到那个时候,当碰上那件事情之后。

WIllAM: Don't evern think about it .Go away immediately.Go away.

Stranger: Sorry.

WIllAM: You were saying?

ANNA: I have to go way today but I wondered if I didn't whether you might let me see you a little or a lot maybe… see if you could like me again.

WIllAM:But yesterday that actor asked you who I was and you just dismissed me out of hand. I heard. You had a microphone on.

ANNA: What do you expect me to tell the truth to the most indiscrete man in England.

SPIKE: Excuse me. It's your mother on the phone.

Dismiss me:ignore me.

out of hand.:Spontaneously;without thought.

You dismissed me out of hand:

It's your mother on the phone.

Scene VII

WIllAM: sorry.

对不起

ANNA:I'm fine. There's always a pause when the jury goes out to consider their verdict.

WIllAM:Anna look I'm a fairly level-headed bloke. Not often in and out of love. But, ahh, can I just say no to you?

go out to do. sth. Our sympathy went out to her on the death of her husband.

Jury:

Verdict:

level-headed:adj. 如果你形容某些人头脑清醒可以说you have a level head.

Bloke:

Not often In and out of love. I'm not often in and out of love.

ANNA: Yes. Of course. Well I just be going. Then it's nice to see you.

WIllAM:The thing is, with you I am in real danger. It seems like a perfect situation popping up… foul temper of yours but my relatively inexperienced heart would, I fear, not recover I was once again cast aside as I would absolutely expect to be. There's just too many pictures of you, too many. You'd go and I would be …well, buggered.

I just be going:

It's nice to see you.

The thing is意思是"问题是……"和The problem is…

Be in real danger:处在危险当中。 I'm in real danger.

It seems like a perfect situation popping up…:It是指以前与安娜在一起的经历。

Bugger:

ANNA:It really is real now isn't it.

WIllAM: I live in Nottinghill you live in Beverly hill. Everyone in the world knows who you are. My mother has trouble remembering my name.

ANNA: All right… good decision, good decision. The fame thing isn't really real you know. And don't forget, I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy. Asking him to love her.

Have trouble doing sth.

I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy. Asking him to love her.

Scene VIII

WIllAM:: Yes, Miss Scott. Are there any circumstances in which the two of you might be more than just good friends.

ANNA: I hoped there would be. But now I'm assured there aren't. What would you say…

Old man: Just the one questi on please.

ANNA: No, it's all right, you were saying?

WIllAM:I was just wondering if it turned out that this person (Theck) I just wondered if Mr. Theck realized he's been a draft prick got down on his knees begged you reconsider whether you would in fact reconsider

Circumstance:情况

Are there any circumstances in which:是否在有些情况下

I was just wondering:我一直想知道……。 I was wondering where to spend the weekend? l It turned out that:结果是……,证明是……,结果……prove to be;be in the end 十分常用的一个短语。 Everything turned out well/satisfactory.

Draft prick:

ANNA: Yes I believe I would.

WIllAM: That's very good news. The Readers of Fox and Hound will be absolutely delighted.

D(另一位名叫Dominic的记者): Anna. How long are you intending to stay here in Britain?

ANNA: Indefinitely.

The Readers of Fox and Hound:

How long are you intending to stay here in…:打算在某地待多久?
